Speed Up Window Switching

Is there anything that can be done to improve the performance when switching between windows within Toad. For example, within a connection, it seems to take several seconds to switch between and open editor session, and and open schema browser. I see the same performance issue just switching between open editor tabs.

If you have the object palette open, it reloads when you change sessions. That can take some time, and closing the OP when you aren't using it will help.

Sorry to be so late in responding, I've never used the object palette so that's not the issue.

  3. Team Coding is another feature that may slow switching between sessions. This is something that is being addressed in the current beta cycle.

  4. John, thanks for the tip about the Object Palette, this has been the source of the slow switching between windows and connections. Is there a setting to enable caching of this info? I'm working on a peoplesoft db with a bunch of tables and views (20k+) and this slows me down.

    Thanks,

    Hi Alexei,

There is no option to cache that, but if you leave it set to 'views', it will probably load faster than if you leave it set to 'tables'. If you prefer to leave it set to tables, there are some settings you can change in the filter to speed it up: Under "Tables to hide", check "Object Tables". Also, uncheck "Load date created & altered".

I have made some changes for Toad 12 (already in beta) that should speed up the "Load Date Created & Altered" process, if you leave it checked.
